Aftermath of the Interview...

Actually, the interview went REALLY well. I'm very excited, 'though I'm trying to maintain my composure. I should know by the end of the week, 'though I'll have to interview with the HR person of the company. The guy I talked to today is an intermediary. Very nice intermediary, who spent time in Minnesota. So we talked about how different people are in Minnesota than in other places. Kinda funny.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so on to the crappy weekend. Friday night, I got home from work, which was incredibly boring, to find the house was VERY cold. Turns out, we were out of propane. Called the emergency number, and waited. And waited. Went to bed that night, grateful for all my blankets. Slept pretty well, nice and warm. Getting up Saturday was another matter. House was 43 degrees when I got up. Finally got a call about the propane. Damion had told me that it would probably be about $200. No. When the guy got here, it was a 200 gallon minimum, as well as a $100 service charge.

So, $452.49 later, I had to take money out of my "moving" fund, to pay for the propane. The house slowly heated up. I did get to take a hot shower, which was nice. Got up early on Sunday, because I'd slept 13.5 to 14 hours on Friday night. Sunday also snowed. A lot. Plowed about 14" off the driveway at about 5:40 p.m. Played a lot of Warcraft with Eero yesterday, which was fun. Then last night, Matt, who's supposed to be one of my new roommates, called to say that instead of needing 1/2 month's rent when we move in, we need a full month's rent. So instead of $825, I need $1100. Ouch. Especially after the whole propane thing.

After sleeping 2 hours last night, I worked out (I hope) the propane/rent thing, so I was feeling a little better. Got up to leave, and got stuck in the driveway. Decided that was sign, and went back to bed. Called work, to let them know I'd be late. Got the car unstuck, put it in the garage. Found out about the job interview, and left for that. On the way, Matt called, to tell me we might not be able to get the house. Turns out, in his reading of the lease, they have several illegal clauses regarding eviction and lock-outs. They also mention they won't maintain the washer and dryer, but there's no mention of what they will maintain. Their assertion is that they'll fix anything if we call them. I suggested some options to Matt, but we'll see.

So, all in all, it's been a crappy last few days. At least I'd already bought my plane tickets home for Christmas, so I don't have to worry about that. Blah.

Please, keep your fingers crossed for this job. It'd be a heck of a lot more money, and it sounds like fun.

Wish Me Luck!

Okay, for after a truly horrid weekend, and getting stuck in my driveway this morning, I called on a job interview email I got, and I'm going to the interview on my way to work this morning. It'd be doing customer service, but it's for an international business. The guy doing the initial interviews was very excited on the phone. Turns out, he lives 3 miles from me, and used to live in Rochester, MN. Oh, and he knows where Beloit was. :)

So, wish me luck. If I'm hired, I'd start training 12/13. A little soon, I know, but even the training pays more than ADP does.

I'll let you know how it goes later, as well as imparting more info on my crappy weekend.

Friday after Turkey Day...

Hello, and greetings from Colorado, where it's grey and snowing out. Oh, and cold.

I base these observations on what's outside the window. I haven't actually been outside since I got to work this morning. See, I have to work today. I realize most of the rest of the world does not, but by God, somebody might want to call a payroll in today, so I'm here.

To those of you who have the day off, bastards! Please think of me whilst you're lying on your back on the couch, enjoying a day of leisure. For those of you crazy enough to go shopping this morning, you need help! It's not healthy, this shopping at 4:30 in the morning! For those few of you who are likewise trapped at work, you have my commiserations (Kim, this thought is especially for you!).

I very much hope everyone had a terrific day yesterday. I know I did.

I'd like to thank each and every one of you who reads this for being a part of my life. I'm thankful every day, even if I probably don't mention it enough.

The next item on my agenda is to find the crazy bastard who decided Christmas music should be played before Christmas. What the heck!?! I don't think so! Was bad enough seeing all the Christmas tree places going up yesterday. But I've been listening to Christmas music for 2 weeks already! I like it well enough, but couldn't we at least wait 'til we're in December for this?!

Hope everyone has a great day, and a quiet, relaxing day. I'm going to take comfort in my sweats, and in doing as little as possible, all while listening to the Scots Gaelic radio broadcast on the web, courtesy of the BBC.

..Wednesday...

It's Wednesday. Tomorrow's Thanksgiving, so I won't be here. Yeah! I'll be sleeping in, then toddling off to my aunt's, to help with dinner preps. And watching football. And parades. I'm very much looking forward to it.

Work hasn't been too bad this week, 'though Monday certainly started with a bang! It's quieting down, and I'm terribly grateful. We're into the finishing stages of the move of the Conversion Department to Pheonix. No, I'm not moving to Pheonix. Could have, didn't want to. Instead, I'll be moving over to Customer Service. So, we're trying to tidy up the last of our clients. I can't wait.

Got World of Warcraft last night, and waited two hours, to install, upload the patch and then log onto the server. Oy! But once I got in, it was fun. Eero was hanging around, waiting for me, and helped me get stuff figured out. I'll be back on tonight, trying to customize the keyboard, and finish learning a new system. It's just enough like CoH to really screw me up on navigation. Ah well. I'm sure it'll work out.

Hope everyone has a quiet day today, and a great day tomorrow. For those of you who are off Friday, bastards! :) For those of you who, like me, will be working on Friday, I feel your pain.

Snowy Saturday

It's a snowy, snowy Saturday. Woke up this morning to snow. Coming down hard enough, with big enough flakes, that I could tell it was snowing without my glasses on. Woke up a little later, not snowing. Finally woke up at 10:30, it was snowing again.

Damion came by, to pick up mail, and said the roads were getting bad. Also told me that likely he'll move out completely when I do, mid-December. John's housesitting, won't be back 'til 12/01. So, I have the house completely to myself. Gets lonely sometimes.

Drove down to Evergreen after Damion left. After I plowed the driveway, of course. I wanted to pick up some stuff in town, and I wanted to prove to myself I could get to town. Silly, yes, but when I have been not?

As I'm posting this, I obviously got to town, and back. Had one stop on the way down where the car decided to visit the other lane, but no one was around, and I reminded the car that this is America, and we drive on the right side of the road, not the left. On the way up, I didn't have any problems, 'though I took it really slow.

Not much is going on, other than sitting with a cat in my lap, watching the snow fall. Anyone feel like emailing, I'll be here!

BTW, since I haven't posted in awhile. we did get the house we applied for. Found out either Wednesday or Thursday. So, we have a house. Thank God. Nice to know it's all working out. We going to sign the lease for 12/15, and we'll move in that weekend, probably starting on the 18th. I'll get the address out to everyone soon. My phone # won't change, since almost everyone has my cell #, and that won't change. Email won't change, either.

4 Outta 5 Ain't Bad...

So I was at work 4 out of 5 days this week. That's not bad, considering I've either been suffering from a cold, a flu shot, or just plain general apathy all week.

It's been one of those weeks where I began to be concerned it would never end. However, in 2 hours, it'll be over with. I can't wait. I am so very, very much looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. Way in. Then I'm going to go get my rear tires replaced with snow tires. I tried to do that on Sunday, and all they did was patch the tire. I'm not sure how "Please replace my back tires" translates to "patch that bad boy, 'kay?" But I went out yesterday morning to discover a nearly completely flat tire.

Joy.

We did, however, have 2 cans of "Fix-a-Flat" in the garage. Damn, that stuff is great! Messy, but gets your tire right back to what it should be. I was very, very impressed! Gonna have to get some of that, and leave it in the car, just in case.

Bought my plane tickets for Christmas. I'm goin' home!!! Can't wait. Haven't seen Mom since I moved out here, and haven't see Dad, Nathan and Kim since August at Don and Stace's.

Probably will pack some more this weekend. Trying to decide which I should do first, my closet, or the storage room that Damion demolished last weekend, trying to get things cleaned up for the carpet cleaners. We'll see.

Hope everybody has a great weekend, before returning to the zombified thralldom of the regular work week.

Thursday...

It's Thursday. Only one day left 'til the weekend. I'm glad this week's almost over.

I'm getting a flu shot tonight. Found out about 1/2 hour ago. My grandmother made the appointment, then called to tell me when. I'm not really wearing a good shirt to get a flu shot. Long sleeved shirt, and a sweatshirt. It's kinda chilly outside, especially at my house, when I leave in the morning. I realize the temperature doesn't come close to approaching the depths of frigidity Minnesota reaches in January and February, (Thank God!), but it's awfully chilly after the warmth of all my blankets.

So I'm going to get my flu shot, and then I'm going to reward myself with a trip to Barnes and Noble. Because I want to.

It's Snowing and I'm Sick!

So there's a throat thing going around the office. Sore throat, don't feel good, stuffy sinuses. I started getting it on Sunday night. Monday I felt miserable, but went to work. The realtor was supposed to come by and look at the house in preparation to putting it on the market. But he didn't show. I found that out after a rotten day at work. Yesterday, the realtor was coming again, but I just didn't care. Stayed home anyway. Gave him my cell #, so he'll call me when they're showing the house (I prefer NOT having complete strangers just waltz into my abode), and he's also going to put a note on the viewing agreement that they need to leave the outside doors closed, so Tora-chan doesn't get out.

Then I spent the rest of the day lying on the couch, ignoring the T.V., curled up under a blanket, reading. Very nice. Wood pellet stove was going, I was under blankets. Just before bed, I got sucked into the Farscape: Peacekeepers' War. Thought it was an hour. End at 10, just right at bed time.

No.

It ended at 11. It was two hours. But good enough I wanted to keep watching. Ah well.

Knew it had snowed a little last night, but it was snowing when I got up. About 2 inches on the railing of the deck, but less than a half inch on the drive. However, I'm sure it's going to be worse going home, since it's been precipitating all day, and I don't know that it ever got warm enough to be anything other than rain at my house. Which is a blessing. Means the roads shouldn't be too icy.

So in 10 minutes, I bail. Can't wait. Kim and I did set up a video conference on 12/11 today. A bunch of people from the Minneapolis/Burnsville area will congregate at the ADP office in Bloomington, and I'll toddle into the ADP office in Aurora, and we'll get to chat. Not quite face to face, but I'll actually get to see everyone. I'm very excited!

Fronzen Monday

I got snow last night. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 or 7". It was still snowing when I left this morning, at 6:10, or thereabouts. Wanted to take extra time, because the roads were all snowy. Got to work at 7:40. Long drive. Think I'm going to leave early today, say around 4pm, because it looks like the snow is stuck over my house. Eesh! Also need to plow the driveway when I get back, since I left without doing that this morning. That should be interesting.

Other than that, it's Monday. And cold in the office; I'm freezing.

Mom, so you don't worry, I put a sleeping bag in the trunk before I left this morning, so I'm ready. Just in case.
